LADWP and ICOE Offer Scholarship to Support Future Career Technical Education Workforce

Join Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) and the Inyo County Office of Education (ICOE) in empowering the next generation of skilled workers in Inyo County. These organizations have joined forces for the fifth consecutive year to provide a Career Technical Education (CTE) Scholarship to graduating high school seniors in Inyo County interested in the skilled craft fields. This year, five bright minds will receive scholarships of $5,000 each, resulting in a program total of $25,000.

The CTE scholarship program is part of a broader initiative to bridge the gap between education and career opportunities in technical fields such as IT and technical engineering, in addition to trade pathways like auto mechanics, woodworking, and welding. By investing in the education and training of local students, LADWP and ICOE are paving the way for future generations to pursue such trades, exploring rewarding technical career paths through training and apprenticeships.

“We believe in the importance of supporting our youth and presenting them with the tools they need to succeed in the workforce,” said LADWP Aqueduct Manager Adam Perez. “These scholarships not only help students thrive in their unique interests, they also contribute to the growth and vitality of our local economy.”

ICOE Associate Superintendent Randy Cook appreciates the ICOE/LADWP partnership, “There are tremendous opportunities for our students to access high-paying jobs in the skilled trades and technical fields that don’t require the expense of a four-year university degree.”
